Photographing now for 11 Years !!!

Yesterday I opened one of those chaos boxes, with all those old images, memories and notes I used to collect. Once those things have been very important to me and I just forgot about them.

I found an old image of myself from one of my first photo shoots 11 years ago.

It reminded me that time runs so fast and I'm working every day on certain projects and shoots, that I just forgot...I'm photographing now for 11 years.

Wow... is it really that long ago, since I took an old camera and tried to hunt my visions. I am impressed....

Since that time I learned so much, had so many adventures, met so many people and was so obsessed with what I'm doing. I jumped into an unknown future, but I always knew this will be something I need to do.

I'm very happy and excited about this new year 2012 waiting for me and my upcoming projects and more more more adventures....

In Love with the black Chanel Box

Last month while I was in Paris, I had to buy sun glasses. I left mine at home, as I thought I won't need them in France. I was not expecting that much sunshine there. So... at the end it was sunny in Paris and my eyes started hurting. I went to the Chanel store and got some fancy cool glasses, but best of all, I loved the black box they came along with... and I had this idea...
like the little black dress, I was thinking about this little black box!
Then one day back home, this cool model Branden Mitchel showed up at the studio. He got naked and I got shy, like I always do when there is a very handsome naked guy around. So after I'm blushing behind my camera, I thought about my red cheeks and suddenly about the color black and the little black dress I should wear to impress while I'm working and then about the little black box that will safe my life and make me do some nice pictures....
after all I'm very happy I bought those glasses, I will wear them now day and night ;-D

From Paris with Love

The past 3 weeks I spent in Paris. It was an adventurous trip. I rented a studio in Montmartre that used to be once Picasso's atelier. The spirit that was owned by this shabby house on top of the hill near Sacre Coeur was magic. The view from it's place breath taking, presenting the City of Lights beneath my eyes. Inspired by this, I decided to shoot the nudes on those iconic places the city has to offer... Tour Eiffel, Champs-Élysées, Pont Alexandre, Louvre, Arc de Triomphe and many more.
Thanks to all those wonderful models that worked so hard with me on this project ....
and a very special kiss goes to Gina and Kim Weston who spent time with me in Paris, exploring the food and the wine... the landmarks of the french capitol and for all those creative conversations we had during our wonderful stay. Kim Weston also photographed in Paris and as many already know I'm a big admirer of his genius work.

VELVET the German lifestyle and fashion magazine is celebrating their 25th annual issue. We are so very proud that our beautiful Super Model Donna Feldman appears on their cover.
Also our Ariane Sommer images from the Peta Campaign are published in this issue, including an interview with this Super Beauty and a very exciting short story.

New Cover German Maxim 2011

The new year 2011 starts with a cover at German Maxim.
This time we met beautiful actress Laura Niles at the studio. The sexy action girl and black belt beauty appeared in several US TV shows. For us she jumped into her bikini and posed for the cover.

The New Book Project

Everyone who has ever done a book, knows it takes a long time to get the work together.
You select your most important work and then you make another selection, shoot more interesting stuff, you have new ideas and projects you want to include and then you can't stop working and want to get the very best out of it ... I have taken thousands of images with so many models in the past years, and then at the end I cut everything down to the very best.
A view weeks ago I had another meeting with David Fahey who is the Curator of my next book. .. I was excited to see all my work spread out on the Gallery floor, the legendary magic of those rooms and all those famous people who went through those halls and are presented on those walls. I felt like I was standing in a church of photographic art... In between my work ... and there was no doubt, I needed to enjoy this rare and satisfying feeling for a little moment , before we started to do the sequencing of the book. We looked at the work, shifted right and left, back and forth and discussed for hours. I even had to sort out some very loved strong images ... and I can tell this hurts a lot, if you just can't find a spot in the flow to include an image without braking up the smooth and round finish of the order. Anyway I did let it go , as I was very sure David Fahey had the unique and genius eye he gave me that day to sequence my book. I was very happy about his excitement and passion and after a long session late at night I went home with my huge stack of images, that are now the beginning of something new...

Crazy Hair and Dirty Feet

The last week was a lot of fun...
My muses and dearest friends, Angela and Cynn came to visit me in L.A.
Nora (my assistant and art director ) and myself developed crazy and cool concepts. Together, with the girls and our "one and only" make up artist Jacqui, we realized several fashion and beauty concepts...
It was a creative week with endless fun, work, play and wine. We all went to the wild side of life ...
My studio was the playground where we just let go...yes, we went crazy crazy crazy...but the best part of it...the perfect results!

They did it again. The German Fashion and Lifestyle Magazine VELVET used one of the "Big Cat" images I shot, for their Cover of the summer issue. It shows one of my favorite Models Ashley and a Cougar in the snow.

Sylvie Blum The Model

Before I picked up my camera starting a career as a photographer in 2000, I worked over 16 years as a model with many international known photographers. I was married to my mentor the photographer and artist Guenter Blum, he passed away in 1997. He learned me everything about creating pictures and how to see things. I was fascinated by this man and his way to work. We both have been the perfect team. I was his wife, model and muse and I loved it very much. Our entire life was filled with creating pictures, getting inspired, building backgrounds, crafting crazy costumes, developing in the darkroom and every day I played a different role being a "Femme Fatale".

I would never have missed this amazing time and I would never had dreamed that one day it should end ...
